Appraisals

The core of our business is the appraisal process. All our appraisers have more than 20 years adjusting experience each and more than 1,000 completed appraisals each. Our experience in this field not only gives our clients the advantage of having expert scopes and estimates for each loss, we are expert negotiators. In the event an umpire is needed, we ensure an unbiased neutral umpire through a thorough vetting process.

Our mission is to secure a fair and appropriate resolution by providing:

  • Prompt confirmation of assignment.
  • A thorough examination of the claim documentation and dispute.
  • A physical inspection of the loss with the insured’s appraiser to confirm the items in dispute and to confirm/negotiate scope.
  • A post-inspection narrative report with suggested reserves, salvage and subrogation potential.
  • Detailed photo documentation of the subject property and damages.
  • A preliminary estimate that reflects our initial offer to the opposing appraiser.
  • Status reports twice monthly of the appraisal progress.
  • Thorough vetting of potential umpires. We will ensure there are no conflicts and ensure neutrality.
  • Detailed Award with separate coverages.
  • Detailed Activity Log.
  • Prior Authorization requested for Experts if needed.

Mediation

Some of our clients prefer mediation instead of appraisal. Our preparation for mediation includes re-inspecting, re-measuring and photo-documenting the loss location, for which a report and photos are typically generated. Once we have the data, we analyze to identify the actual estimate differences. Once the differences are clear, we determine whether A) all items are warranted and B) whether other methods of repair would be cost-effective. We prepare this mediation package to include the opposition estimate, carrier estimate, our analysis of differences, reasoning for inclusion/exclusion of items as well as alternative methods of repair.  This package is prepared to illustrate to the insured and mediator our position and reasoning based upon facts that are easy to understand, and hard to refute.  Our thorough preparation and negotiation methods have made this a cost effective method of dispute resolution.

Task Assignments

Our client insurance carrier may require specific element of a claim that they need confirmation or clarification. We will provide the assistance needed to assist the claim handling.

  • Re-inspections: We have had assignments in which our client insurance company prefer we complete a full file review, inspect and provide an estimate. Further, at our client’s direction, we will negotiate and upon agreement with the insured’s representative, we will secure a signed/notarized release.
  • Roof Inspection: Our HAAG certified roof experts will inspect and provide the necessary photo documentation and detailed assessment of roofing materials, age, cause of damages and diagrams to provide the information needed to make a coverage decision. If you determine coverage to be afforded, we can prepare an estimate of damages with appropriate depreciation. We provide expert roof inspections for both residential and commercial roof systems.
  • Late First Notice of Loss: A thorough investigative approach establishing the reported date of loss and the reason for late reporting is the basis for this type of assignment. This includes a physical inspection with photo documentation, diagram of the property and securing a recorded interview from the insured. The report that is prepared includes our observations and a summary of the interview. The recorded audio accompanies the file. An estimate is not typically prepared for any damages observed until instructed by the Carrier. A word-for-word transcript can be provided upon request.

  • Desk Adjustment: These assignments span numerous requirements from our clients. From generating estimates and reports based upon On-Demand-Inspectors (ODI’s), to preparing comparable estimates or completing estimate review for quality control.
